my sweet husband made a stop on the way home after a long day at work ...
he knew i needed some cheering up.
he always thinks of me, no matter how tired he is!
yes, i love peonies, especially pretty pink ones,
and yes ... i am blessed!
i wanted to capture the memory of these 'pretties' and share them with you
before they succumbed to the elements around them here.
i often think that there will be forever-flowers in Heaven!
*the second image has a softness about it that was no doing of mine ...
it had been a rainy, muggy, and humid day, so when i stepped onto the porch
to take this picture, the lens began to fog up.
i snapped a few real quick because it was getting worse!
i wasn't sure how any of them would turn out,
but i do like the softness that the 'fog' gave to this one.

does anyone have any knowledge about that?
i would love to find a lens that would give an image this soft effect,
so if anyone knows about that as well, please share!

What beautiful pictures and what a thoughtful husband you have. I know you can get filters to help with image softening. Other than that I'm clueless.

Your pink peonies are so lovely and delicate - how thoughtful of your husband. I don't think occasional fogging will damage the lens as long as it is not a regular occurrence which might cause condensation to build up inside the lens - I would imagine this would take prolonged exposure. I am with Nicola on getting a filter to create the softening - or perhaps a photoshop action. Enjoy your beautiful flowers and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletethanks so much, nicki ... i do hope i can find a lens for that effect, too, as my son just told me earlier that the condensation can cause problems, although that was the first time i had taken photos on such a humid day, and i was only out for just a few short minutes, too. so to be safe, it wouldn't hurt to learn how to do it with my editing program, as you said. thank you again for your help, and for your kind words! you enjoy your weekend, as well!

Such a sweet gesture...sweet man! Don't let him go! I love the softness of the 2nd photo. Not sure about a lens that does this ( maybe a Lens Baby) but you can achieve this effect in Photoshop. :)

Deletethis gotta be the most stunning photo I've seen for a while now.. Umm-- about a lens -- how about try a Screw-on Filter lens -- or Slot-in Filter lens and if you have Photoshop play around with their blending mods... let me know if you do find what your looking for..I am interested!!

ReplyDeleteOur dark pink peonies are all done, but we have whites on our table now.. I just love them.
One way to soften a photo is to hike the contrast way down in editing.
I know there are softening filters, but have no experience with them.
I like a low aperture, too, to blur out the background for softness.
Fog seems to have worked well for you! (We've had a LOT of humidity lately.. I'm ready for it to go away anytime now!)
oh, i would love white peonies, amanda!! and, thank you for the tips on softening an image, too. i still have a lot to learn about aperture, iso, etc.. there really is a lot to this passion i love! well, i hope you find some relief from the humidity ... we're in the midst of it now, through to the end of the week, along with 90+ temperatures. i'm actually missing winter today! :)
